This necklace is made from a piece of auto glass, collected from car break-ins. Each pendant is one-of-a-kind, and this one measures approximately 2 x 3 inches, suspended from an 18 inch stainless steel chain.
Auto glass is naturally a greenish color. Instead of remaining transparent, this piece has a mirrored effect applied, which highlights the green tint of the glass and has a beautiful blingy effect. The back is secured with resin. Alongside it is a transparent tinted piece of black auto glass, which still has the beautiful cracks, if you look closely.
Deanna Dionne launched Cleveland Street Glass in Spring 2016. She moved to Cleveland in late 2014, when her car was broken into just a week after arriving. But she moved here to focus on her art, and that event stuck in her mind as she experimented with different techniques, and jewelry made from auto glass was born. She is inspired by Cleveland's pride for not only where it's going, but where it came from. It is proud of its grit, for grit is what it's built on.
